Our little girl turned 1 last month! One part of me feels like she has been with us forever, that time has gone slow and sweet this past year, and the other part still wakes up every morning and sees her sweet face beside me and I’m shocked I have a beautiful little daughter!

It is not lost on us how incredibly lucky we are to have another baby after Trek, and to have a healthy child who will outlive us. We are reminded of it often every day and talk about it all the time. Even the boys are shocked and amazed at the things she is capable of. We are all so in love with Vesper.

I started planning her birthday party a couple months before she turned 1 (on May 17th). I love to sew, so I decided to sew all her decorations. The theme was tea party, which was delightfully girly and easy since my entire house is full of antiques and tea party type things. We use assorted antique dishes for our plates already, so I just pulled all our dishes out and I had lots to work with. This was my first party to plan for a girl!!! I have thrown baby showers for my sister and sis-in-law, but they were all for boys, and of course I have been planning little boys’ birthdays for 9 years now, so I was in shock with all the pink! It was soooo much fun, and I kept saying so, as I sewed layers and layers of lace on her high-chair cover:)

But backing up a little, we had a little photo shoot for Vesper when she was 11 months old. I needed a picture for her invitation and I also wanted to do her 1 year old pictures. She was super sleepy and it was so hard to get a smile, but they ended up turning out beautiful. She is such a beautiful little girl inside and out, its hard for any picture not to turn out of her:)

this one loooooves her daddy:)

I wanted Vesper’s party to be relaxing and low key. We just invited our family and family friends and had lots of yummy finger foods. I wanted to just soak up all the love and to enjoy our 1 year old. It was a truly lovely and special day.

I made the back drop, I used it in her photo shoot above too. It was so easy, I just took all my vintage sheets and fabrics, then ripped them into strips and tied them on a ribbon. I also have tons of vintage linens that was perfect for decoration.

I ordered Vesper’s outfit a couple months before and then had this amazing lady make a matching hair bow. I loved the outfit sooo much! Dressing a little girl is super fun-hehe:)

we love the princess:)

Vesper’s best friend, her cousin Dawson, who she lovingly calls “Daw Daw”

my granny made her amazing sausage balls, we had sausage wontons, some delicious dip and chips from Jarrett’s work and lots of other yummy food

I had so much fun making PINK! cupcakes

I used the same fabrics to make her high chair fabric border as the back drop, and I sewed a custom high chair cover for the back.

for party favors, I had little plastic tea cups and saucers filled with sugar cubes, organic berry tea and a wooden spoon with the kids’ names on it.

We had pink lemonade and punch to drink, and my sister grabbed some Chick-fil-a sweet tea (yum!). I had a coffee and tea station set up, mainly for fun since it was a tea party, but this is Texas so it was a little too hot for hot drinks!

Jarrett got Vesper a jumpy castle (well it was mainly for her awesome big brothers and cousins:), but she had a lot of fun in it too

Peyton taking some time to read little sister one of her favorite books during the party, she has the best big brothers

The funniest thing happened at her birthday. She started taking her hair bows off!!! Tear from me (haha!). After 12 months of constant hair band wear (I think she went out of the house once without one!) she was done. It was like she knew she was 1 now and not a baby, so she was in charge. Thankfully, she has since let me put them on again (whew), but it was super funny that day. This was my last shot of her fully dressed, then I let her be free:)

hehe:)

she then had a bath and was set loose to enjoy her presents:) Giving her friend Grayson a big smooch.
